🧑‍💻 My school work experience at OBI Partner

A week that changed my view of IT

My name is Hassan Sylla, I am 14 years old and I am a year 9 student.
I am curious, helpful, quite funny (at least I try 😄), and I like understanding how things work, especially in the digital world.
Outside of school, I am passionate about football, I love cooking, and I enjoy playing video games to relax. My favorite hero is Black Panther, for his courage and kindness.
And if I understand English well, it’s thanks to movies and TV series in the original version with subtitles.

Before starting

When I found out that I was going to do my  year 9 internship at OBI Partner, I thought IT would be complicated and a bit boring. I mostly imagined myself observing, without really taking part.
Spoiler: I was wrong.

The first day at OBI Partner

As soon as I arrived, Christopher, the manager, welcomed me with a smile. He explained the program for the week: coding, testing software, creating images, understanding how computers and artificial intelligence work, and discovering project management and marketing.
At that moment, I understood that this week was going to be different.

What I discovered

OBI Partner is a company specialized in IT and artificial intelligence, with more than 25 years of experience. They create tailor-made solutions and place great importance on security.
But what impressed me the most was the atmosphere. The team is serious about their work, but always in a good mood.

During the week, I worked with:

• Aurore, a Data Scientist, who introduced me to data analysis and LLMs,

• Matthieu, a Python expert,

• Camila, who manages projects and communication,

• Christopher, who helped me understand AI and computers.

The team often spoke English, sometimes Spanish, which allowed me to practice languages while learning IT at the same time..

A week that went by too fast

J’ai analysé des données, participé à la création d’articles et d’images (et même eu mon propre personnage en LEGO), observé comment les projets sont organisés, et appris plein de choses sans m’en rendre compte.
Entre deux moments de travail, il y avait aussi des pauses, des repas au restaurant et beaucoup de rires. Ça m’a montré qu’on peut apprendre sérieusement sans que ce soit stressant.

I analyzed data, took part in creating articles and images (and even had my own LEGO character), observed how projects are organized, and learned a lot without even realizing it.
Between work sessions, there were also breaks, restaurant meals, and lots of laughter. It showed me that you can learn seriously without it being stressful.

What I take away

Before this internship, I thought IT was monotonous.
After this week at OBI Partner, I discovered that it can be creative, interesting, and even fun.
My Year 9 internship at OBI Partner will remain a great memory… and a very pleasant surprise. 🚀
